okayokayokay! so RENT..! awesome. spectacular. amazing. i dont even know what else to say! the play covers it all..drama, laughter, sadness, illness, and celebration. i can definitely see why it is a pivotal production, just because it does bring up the issue of aids and sex. i actually saw the movie and didn't care for it. i feel like it was meant to be a stage play and not turned into a movie. the play was so much better although i was sad that the singers didn't hit some of the really cool notes in the play as they did in the movie and soundtrack. yes, i believe the show did adequately convey its message. live your life each day to its fullest.

i totally agree with everything you said. i absolutely loved the play, and really didnt like the movie all that much. the story line had the audience laughing, crying, and every emotion in between.
ReplyDeleteI think what really helps the play stand out from the movie is the minimalist approach. You don't lose the story amid all of the other "stuff" like you do somewhat in the movie.
